Cocker Spaniels are a highly energetic and intelligent breed that are great as both family pets and working dogs. These dogs are known as the smallest members of the sporting-dog family. Highly affectionate with family and other dogs, Cocker Spaniels are great for large homes or apartment living and are very easy to train.

Unique Appearance
Cocker spaniels are small dogs with long, soft coats that come in a variety of colours including black and tan, liver (brown), red (pink), lemon and white. Some Cockers also have white markings on their heads or bodies.
They have a high-set tail that curls over their back and hangs down between their legs. Their ears are longer than those of other spaniels, and they hang down on either side of their face when they’re relaxed or alert. Cocker spaniels have dark brown eyes, but they can also be blue or amber colored — even one brown and one blue eye is common among this breed.
Cockers have long ears that flop forward when they walk because their ears are set low on their heads. While this trait can sometimes look funny to human eyes, it is actually an important part of the breed’s appearance — specifically because it helps keep their faces cool while they hunt for food in hot climates!
Height and weight vary depending on gender and whether or not you’re talking about an American cocker versus an English cocker. The average weight of male Cockers is between 30 and 40 pounds, while females weigh between 25 and 35 pounds. The height of male Cockers ranges from 16 to 20 inches tall, while females are typically 17 to 19 inches tall.
Hunting History
Cockers were originally bred in England as hunting dogs for retrieving game birds such as ducks and pheasants out of watery areas where other breeds could not go. They have been used as hunting dogs, watchdogs and even therapy dogs.
This breed has been around since the early 19th century when they were brought over from Spain by Spanish scholars who wanted to see if they could improve on their original working dog breed by cross breeding it with other breeds such as Setters or Pointers. They were also bred with spaniels from France at this time so that they would be more suited for hunting on land rather than water alone (which was done with retrievers).
Playful and Loyal
Cockers are family pets who love to play and enjoy spending time with their family members. While they may be stubborn at times, they will learn quickly if trained properly. They are also known to be extremely intelligent so training them should not be too difficult once you’ve got the hang of it!
Cocker Spaniels are great companions and can be very loyal to their owners. They are eager to please, which makes them easy to train, and they love being around people. They also don’t require much exercise; just enough to go on a walk or play with a ball in the backyard. Many Cockers also like to swim! These dogs are loyal and protective of their owners but do not like strangers coming into their territory without permission.
Cocker Spaniels are known for their friendly disposition and good temperament, so if you want a dog that will follow you everywhere, this is your best bet! If you have children who are looking for a new pet, then Cocker Spaniels would make great companions for them as well because they tend to be gentle and kind hearted towards kids – not always the case with other breeds of dogs out there!
The Perfect Active Companion
If you are looking for an energetic companion who enjoys going outside and getting some exercise every day, then Cocker Spaniels may not be right for you because they really don’t need much exercise at all! However if you want a very loving dog who loves being around people then this might be the right breed.
Cockers are very easy to train because they are eager to please their owners. This makes them excellent companions for agility training or obedience classes where they will learn new commands quickly.
They will need daily exercise though; otherwise their energy can build up inside of them causing behavioural problems such as jumping on people or chewing on things like shoes or furniture they shouldn’t be chewing on! This behaviour can also be addressed using a combination of behavioural training and dog classes.
If you don’t give your cocker enough exercise, they may become destructive out of boredom or because they’re not getting enough mental stimulation during the day either!
You’ll need to trim the hair around their pads and feet so that dirt doesn’t get trapped there causing infection or irritation from constant wetness from rain or snow (if you live in an area where that happens).
